Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary

8103 Racel Street, Las Vegas, NV 89131

Oversight

Our Board of Directors has been in place since November 2006. It consists of some of our finest citizens in the community. They together with the Executive Director and the General Manager continue to transform the Sanctuary into a state of the art facility within the Southern Nevada area. William Gilcrease, Founder, is an expert in Gambel’s Quail and a variety of the local wild birds in the Valley. Oscar Gilcrease, General Manager has many years of experience in animal husbandry, care, and rehabilitation.

Guidance and Expertise

GNS is regularly assisted by the Eagle Scouts, the Adults with Disabilities organization, and the Nevada Friends of Paleontology Adventures (NFPA). Through NFPA, we have students from both the Continuing Ed and Paleontology Departments of UNLV gaining experience and expertise at the Sanctuary.

Nevada Friends of Paleontology Adventures (NFPA) has been excavating, documenting, and studying our Mammoth Site as part of an overall study of Southern Nevada’s pre-history.

Dr. Scott Bradley is our Veterinary consultant for continued care and health of our animal residents.

Bob Miller is our onsite woodcrafts designer. Many of our staff members specialize in diet and overall care of birds, reptiles, mammals, and fish.
